Acknowledgement of Relinquishment Terms
*
It takes an average of 2 to 5 years, and in some instances much longer, for a parrot to find the right new family through our highly selective adoption program. We ask for a relinquishment fee to help cover our expenses for general care during each bird's introductory period as a resident.
To protect the health of all birds in our care, we require a full veterinarian exam including bloodwork and cultures prior to relinquishment. It is important to note that their are health and safety risks to relinquishing your bird into the care of any new environment with other birds. The stress of changing environments and relationships can also exacerbate existing underlying conditions in otherwise apparently healthy birds. Each new resident undergoes an initial quarantine period of 30-90 days before they are introduced to the main flock areas, depending on their medical history.
In order to ensure each new resident can fully adjust and adapt to their new home, we do not allow former owners who were most heavily bonded with a bird to visit following relinquishment. However, our team is delighted to share updates, photos, and videos with our residents' former families when requested!
I have read and acknowledge these terms.
