As we all reflect on the many memories of 2015, we would like to take a moment to thank all of you - our wonderful patrons, clients, donors and friends - for helping us in our mission daily.
One of our most terrific highlights this year, was being able to install the first segment of new stainless steel cages created specially for us by Carmen at Animal Environments. We still have a long way to go to see the completion of our capital campaign to replace all of our old cages with brand new (not to mention safer & sturdier!) cages, but we are delighted with our progress this year. Over the summer, we had a blast hosting our annual Junior Docent and Parrot Camp classes! If you have visited the sanctuary recently, you've probably run into some of our terrific new docents. We also brought on our fabulous intern, Isabelle, who not only helped survive our busy Groupon season, but continues to volunteer every chance she gets.
Another great success this year was our shift from a traditional fall gala fundraiser to a carnival-themed fundraiser. We wanted to create a yearly event more targeted towards children, and are thrilled that so many could come and enjoy! We can't wait to host the next one!
We also had some great adoption successes this year. We said goodbye to Sammy (Eclectus), Angel (Eclectus), Cosmo (African Grey), Alex (Lilac Crowned Amazon), Skittles (Green Cheek Conure), Sido (Cockatiel), and Lexus (Umbrella Cockatoo). We are so happy that they will be starting 2016 in wonderful and loving homes! Because of these adoptions, we were able to make homes for quite a few new characters. We welcomed Pancho (Jenday Conure), Blizzard (Cockatiel), Mona (Scarlet Macaw), Red (Green Wing Macaw), Quincy (Senegal), Pelfi (African Grey) & Bird (Blue Crowned Amazon). We expect to see even more new faces in 2016, and hope you will come visit them!
As we enter 2016, be sure to follow us on social media and look out for new events and happenings here at Free Flight! Thank you all for your continued support.
